Salvation Army of Phelps County

The Phelps County Salvation Army exists to help persons in Phelps County at their greatest point of need. Your giving predominantly helps provide people in Phelps County with assistance paying their rent or their utilities, purchase needed medications, or buy groceries for their family. 

We help meet temporary, short-term needs that may be necessary for a person to move forward to a more fulfilled, self-sufficient, successful life situation in the future. Over the last several years we have seen an increase in the number of people with jobs but still have difficulty making ends meet. We don’t intend to enable individuals to continue living in need unnecessarily, but rather to help them in a temporary moment of need.

As funding allows, we also do special community projects. Special projects done in previous years were providing school supplies and backpacks for students in Phelps County schools, offering assistance to senior citizens with meals or transportation through the Phelps County Senior Center or Bertrand Young at Heart Center, and helping pay medical or dental expenses rendered in Phelps County.

Ninety percent of your donations assist families and individuals in Phelps County. The other ten percent goes toward administrative costs and statewide disaster relief. The Salvation Army’s mission is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
