Who We Are

At The S.A.F.E. Center, we believe everyone deserves to live in a community where they are safe, supported, and free from violence.

Each year, we serve more than 600 adults and children across Buffalo, Franklin, Harlan, Kearney, and Phelps Counties. We answer over  1,000 crisis calls providing shelter, support, and counseling. 

Survivors are not alone. There is always someone here to answer the call, sit beside them in court, and help them find safety when there’s nowhere else to turn.

Why This Year Matters

In April 2025, a devastating fire made our emergency shelter unusable. Since then, we’ve continued to shelter survivors in hotel rooms, doing whatever it takes to keep them safe, but the need has grown, and the work has never been more urgent.

Every dollar you give directly supports survivors right here in this community. Your gift provides crisis response, advocacy, counseling, and safe shelter for Phelps County residents who are escaping domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking.

Your Gift in Action

Every dollar helps keep survivors safe and supported:

• $25 – Buys a set of toiletries and personal care items for someone arriving with nothing.

• $50 – Provides a gas card so a survivor can travel safely to court, counseling, or a safe location.

• $100 – Covers one night of hotel safety for a survivor and their children.

• $250 –  Provides a week of food, diapers, and basic needs for a family starting over.

• $500 – Covers the cost of a month of support groups and counseling.

• $1,000 – Strengthens prevention education in local schools to stop violence before it starts.
