For more than 45 years, the Summer Honors Program (SHP) has provided rural Nebraska high school students an opportunity to learn, grow, and connect in ways rarely available in their hometowns.

Each June, SHP brings together bright, motivated students for an intensive two-week program in Holdrege. Students dive deep into advanced subjects—like architecture, art computer science, creative writing, drama, film, logic, math, medical science, and psychology—taught by expert instructors from across the country (and even internationally).

Recognized by the International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development as one of the nation’s top programs for gifted rural students, SHP offers a transformative learning experience that sparks lifelong curiosity and friendships.

Together with the Summer Honors Program Alumni Association, our goal is to raise $10,000 to help fund SHP 2026 and keep this one-of-a-kind program thriving for the next generation of rural scholars.
